Making A choice

It was getting late. In fact it was past midnight. I still could not sleep . How could I, when I had to make a decision that could actually change the direction of my life, in the morning. Two roads diverged and I had to choose one. Devagiri or Farook. Which college should I choose? Tomorrow is the admission. And I still haven’t decided which college is the one I get to call mine. The campus which I can, years from now look upon with fondness and possessiveness. I had done it all,  visited both the campus, checked their websites, asked the students , the pass outs and even looked up into the heaven for guidance. I sighed. Made a final prayer for guidance and finally closed my eyes.

A huge gate was what I saw, one that was once upon a time majestic like the gates of the Taj but now badly wanting a coat of paint. Trees that lined on each sides of a road leading to a building that had many untold stories in store for me. My eyes wandered beyond those green old things that whispered many dreams; dreams that took flight and some with broken wings. Ancient books flew around the library, dusty from being kept away but screaming for attention. New Block , yes that is where my classes will be. Lessons I never had before. People I never knew, ideas that changed the world. I will learn it all, inspire from it all.

The ground!! The muddy soil there smelled the pearly sweat of athletes, playing hard for victory while a bird sang the songs of their sorrow and joy. I was tired. The trees gave me shade. Open air, they called it. As I sat down my hands brushed against something gooey. A green paint. Probably used by a kathakali artist who danced away to the victory of his hostel. The wind messed up my hair. I heard the laughter of an everlasting friendship, the sweet murmurings of a love long forgotten  and the echoing sobs of senior finishing her college life. Strangely I felt peace, right at home. I closed my eyes and smiled as I let the winds take me into a past , a past that will soon be my future.

“Rabee, wake up. Its late” I opened my eyes and came back to the present.

“so where do we go today ?”
I smiled, I finally knew my destination, the place where I shall continue my journey

That was one year ago, I chose a road, that has made all the difference and right now thinking of it all, looks like I made the right choice!
